The 2008 Harwood Public Innovators Summit
Tuesday, August 5, 2008(The Harwood Institute for Public Innovation)The 2008 Annual Public Innovators Summit
This
weekend the Harwood Annual Public Innovators
Summit brought together
leaders from the non-profit, foundation,
public media, academic,
journalism, faith-based and corporate sectors
to discuss some of the
most challenging issues facing public life and
to create space for
reflection and rejuvenation.
Against the backdrop of
the Columbia River Gorge, these leaders
connected across sector
boundaries and explored topics ranging from
what it means to see and hear all people
in a community, to the pressure to increase
both our scale and our impact, to what is the role of grace in our
work.
Several participants
said they arrived at the Skamania Lodge
on Friday feeling flat,
disconnected from the
passion they used to feel
for their work. But as the Summit closed Sunday
morning, these same participants
left saying they
felt "renewed" and "rejuvenated," with new ways
of seeing and thinking about their
work.
We look forward to
sharing the insights, inspiration and
innovations that come from this weekend's
Summit with the entire network.
Stay tuned, before long
we'll be announcing the date and location for
the 2009 Public Innovators Summit.
