Bookkeeper

The Institute is currently seeking applicants for the position of part-time bookkeeper (15-20 hours per week). The bookkeeper is responsible for maintaining day-to-day accounting and finance requirements. There is some flexibility with regard to work hours.

Job Responsibilities

  • Prepare invoices and liaison with partners to ensure payments on contracts are made in a timely manner.

  • Pay vendor invoices and track bank account balances.

  • Ensure timely processing of payroll and tax statements.

  • Reconcile credit card expenses and record in the general ledger.

  • Prepare and make bank deposits.

  • Maintain and keep track of the HR information for employees and contractors.

  • Basic benefits coordination as needed.

  • Other project-based work that may be assigned from time to time.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting/finance and at least 5 years’ experience Additional experience may be substituted for education.

  • Advanced knowledge of QuickBooks Online and Google Drive. Knowledge of Expensify an added benefit.

  • Ability to communicate across a team is an absolute must.

  • Maintain confidentiality in all aspects and be flexible according to the needs of the organization.

This is a part-time position based at the Institute’s office in Bethesda, MD.
