Special Assistant to the President

Oluwagbemiga (Gbenga) Dasylva, Ph.D. is a dedicated professional who has made significant contributions as the Director of Research at the John Mitchell Program for History Justice & Race (JMJP). With a keen focus on understanding and amplifying voices from marginalized communities, his work is deeply informed by his personal lived experience. Witnessing the profound impact of historical injustices and systemic inequalities in communities of the Global South has fueled Gbenga's passion for this line of work. With a Doctor of Philosophy in Conflict Analysis & Resolution, a Postgraduate Diploma in Data Analytics, and a Master of Arts in Coexistence & Conflict Studies, Gbenga brings a multidisciplinary approach to his work, merging research, program management, and strategic planning to drive meaningful outcomes. 

In his role as Special Assistant to the President, Gbenga is committed to amplifying the Institute's reach and impact, contributing to the development of the Institute's research tools, content, and messaging that resonate with communities and public innovators nationwide.

Gbenga plays the piano and enjoys tennis and soccer video games, finding them a source of creative expression and a way to unwind. His commitment to justice, interdisciplinary expertise and passion for music converge to shape his professional and personal life, making him a unique and valuable asset to The Harwood Institute and the communities he serves.
