Joe Krushinsky has over 30 years’ experience in public media strategy, resource development, and community engagement leadership. As Director of the Television Future Fund at the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB), Krushinsky managed a team of program officers and a portfolio of projects designed to explore new business and service models, achieve operational efficiencies and promote innovation that leads to system-wide change. The Future Fund-sponsored “Partners in Public Service” project, in collaboration with Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS), brought local libraries, museums and public media stations in alignment around common community aims.

As Director of Station Development Services at the Public Broadcasting Service (PBS) Joe documented prevailing fundraising practices, results and associated costs at over 80 public television stations through the annual Membership Practices Survey. He helped raise the capacity and effectiveness of station fundraisers in all areas of development by offering them tools, resources and professional development opportunities featuring world-renowned fundraising academics and direct response agency experts. At Maryland Public Television (MPT), Joe led the station’s participation in CPB’s Community Engagement Initiative (CEI), designed

and managed by the Harwood Institute. The transformation of MPT and eleven other public TV and radio stations is documented in Rich Harwood’s book, Why We’re Here: The Powerful Impact of Public Broadcasters When They Turn Outward. Joe has achieved record-breaking and award-winning revenue results at stations in Washington DC, New Jersey and Pennsylvania. His volunteer effort for the American Cancer Society have generated millions for the cause in Eastern Pennsylvania, where he currently resides.

Joe is Senior Associate at Bethesda-based Livingston Associates. He provides executive search, strategy and coaching services to Public Media, University and other mission-based non-profit clients. Joe’s practice is focused on helping transform organizations to become outwardly focused, energetic, great places to work, and publicly recognized preeminent local institutions that create conditions for positive change in communities and individual lives.
