John Conroy

Chief of staff

A proud Cincinnatian, John Conroy was named an Eminence Fellow and received a full scholarship to attend The Ohio State University. There, John earned his Six Sigma Green Belt and served as president of Students Consulting for Nonprofit Organizations. He successfully launched his own branch office of Vector Marketing, and later served as Speaker Coordinator for the March for Science on Earth Day 2017 during his internship with Earth Day Network. John is a passionate, pragmatic problem solver. Upon graduation, John explored his interest in environmental sustainability at Republic Services, the second-largest waste management company in the country, where he initiated process improvement and waste reduction efforts across recycling and hauling operations.

Originally joining The Harwood Institute as Special Assistant to the President, John’s role has evolved and grown over time. His work has included orchestrating the research behind the Institute’s Civic Virus: Why Polarization is a Misdiagnosis report, co-authoring two community reports, spearheading research initiatives and action phases in various communities, among other efforts.  As Chief of Staff, John is instrumental in the Institute’s strategy and management. John’s work has ignited his spirit as an innovator and allowed him to solve problems and deliver real results. 

John’s hobbies include traveling and hiking, following Cincinnati’s sports teams, and learning about new technology.
