Remembering Tyrone Thompson

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Tyrone Thomspon, Harwood Coach and Nevada State Legislator, who passed away on Saturday. Tyrone was a dedicated member of the Harwood coaching staff and deeply committed to creating stronger, more resilient communities. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family during this difficult time.

Below is a statement from Rich Harwood, President and Founder of The Harwood Institute for Public Innovation:

“We are deeply saddened by the loss of our colleague and fellow coach, Tyrone Thompson, who suddenly passed away this past weekend. I have known Tyrone for over 15 years, when our work first began in Las Vegas. He was an amazing leader, working fearlessly on homelessness and education and equity issues. No mountain was too high for him to scale. He was an even better person: warm, caring, joyful, sensitive... simply beautiful. I'll miss him dearly; I know we all will. While he is gone from our daily lives, he remains within us forever. I will always hear his voice, always be reminded of his fight for people, and always feel his warm embrace. May he rest in peace, and may God be with him.”
