A Tent Open On All Sides (2020)

About: A framework report prepared by The Harwood Institute for Public Innovation with support from the Kettering Foundation.

Author: Richard C. Harwood

Publish Date: 2020

Description: A Tent Open on All Sides provides a new framework to develop spaces in communities that welcome people who are willing to work together on common problems, and in doing so, generate a culture of shared responsibility. It explores what they can accomplish, and what it takes to make them work. How can we pitch a tent that is truly open on all sides?

This report was written at a time when the U.S. was experiencing four simultaneous crises: a global pandemic, economic upheaval, systemic racism and social injustice, and political turmoil. When seeking to return back to normal is not an option, this report provides a new framework for taking a step towards forging a new path forward together.
