Ruth Haileselassie
Studio associate
Ruth Haileselassie graduated with a degree in Political Science and International Relations in May of 2023. Since graduating, she has worked various administrative jobs across sectors. Before that, Ruth spent two years as the Executive Assistant to the CEO at a staffing firm. She was also the Campus Representative for Victoria Secret’s PINK for 2022-23 year as well as the Social Media Chair for the 2021-22 year. She was a writer for a national magazine called HerCampus, mainly writing about shared issues faced by women both here and abroad.
Ruth was born in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia and raised in Arlington, VA with a strong sense of community. She has always had a passion for women's empowerment through education, more specifically, ensuring their access to a comprehensive sexual health education. In 2019, she conducted research and taught sexual health courses in Ethiopia and this year will be serving as a Community Health (HIV/AIDS) Volunteer with the Peace Corps in Namibia. While there, Ruth plans on implementing the idea of Turning Outward to leave a lasting impact in her community.
At the Institute, Ruth will be liaising with our field researchers and assisting with scheduling and tracking research progress, as well as helping the media team expand our social media presence, as we launch the “Enough. Time to Build” campaign.
Ruth loves traveling and immersing herself in new cultures. She spends a lot of time reading autobiographies of former world leaders, because she is fascinated by the inner workings of those who oversaw some of the most remarkable events in history.
