Andrew Della Rocca

Head Coach

In this role as Head Coach, Andrew leads the Institute’s coaching strategy for community initiatives across the U.S., with a focus on catalyzing community-led change and strengthening civic culture.

Andrew holds a Master’s degree in Conflict Analysis and Resolution from George Mason University, along with multiple coaching certifications. His six years living and working in Northeastern Brazil - where he taught, translated, and engaged in grassroots community work - shaped his commitment to locally-driven solutions and deepened his understanding of liberation movements and sustainable change.

Before joining The Harwood Institute, Andrew directed the coaching program at RallyBright and co-founded Manifestara, a coaching firm dedicated to developing leadership and team capacity. He has worked alongside more than 100 coaches and supported a wide range of teams and leaders across sectors as a coach and facilitator. Earlier in his career, he served as a high school English teacher, most notably at Wakefield High School in Arlington, Virginia.

Andrew is fluent in Portuguese with a working knowledge of Spanish. He lives in Silver Spring, Maryland, where he enjoys hiking, exploring the local arts scene, attending theater, and experimenting with new recipes. He has also contributed to peace education initiatives, leading conflict resolution workshops in São Paulo and Bahia, and translating interviews on liberation theology for George Mason University’s Peace Learner Project.
