NORTH RIVER MANATEE COUNTY, FL
People love living in North River Manatee County. They enjoy the family-friendly vibe, great schools, sense of personal safety, unique and diverse communities, and beautiful weather. Lifelong residents can’t imagine living anywhere else and newcomers keep moving in, making this community one of the fastest-growing areas in all of Florida.
But amid a period of rapid growth and change, people’s concerns are rising. Indeed, the community is growing and changing faster than anyone can keep up.
Today, North River Manatee County faces a fundamental choice: Will the community further fragment amid the pressures of growth and change or come together to shape a shared future?
In May 2026, The Harwood Institute, in partnership with Bishop-Parker Foundation and The Patterson Foundation, released the report, Growing Together in North River Manatee County: Shaping a Shared Future, to help the community better understand how people across the county see and experience life here and how the community can strengthen its civic culture.
In summer 2026, the action phase will begin in North River Manatee County with a Getting Started Lab. Teams will form to work on issues that matter to people and begin to unleash a chain reaction. The initiative will continue with an Unleashing Impact Lab later in 2026, followed by ongoing coaching and workspaces through 2027.
