Erika Coon

Studio Intern

Before joining The Harwood Institute’s Studio on Community as an Intern,  Erika studied Criminology and World Politics and is now pursuing her Master of Public Administration at The Ohio State University. Her passion for public service and community change has been shaped by both her academic work and personal experiences, especially her time supporting survivors of domestic violence and sex trafficking. These experiences strengthened her commitment to ensuring that marginalized voices are heard and represented.

At the Institute, Erika supports research, content creation, and community-based projects that aim to strengthen civic life. She is excited to contribute to new ideas and initiatives that bring people together across divides and help communities find practical, people-centered solutions.

Originally from Northern Virginia, Erika was inspired early on by the opportunities to engage in civic life near Washington, D.C. Outside of her professional work, she enjoys traveling, exploring cafés, hiking, and reading.
