Rich Harwood to speak at United Way events this spring

Rich Harwood is the headline speaker for two United Way-sponsored events coming up in Lafayette, LA, and Lebanon, PA. The Institute has been a long-time partner with United Way Worldwide in supporting local United Ways in transforming their work in communities to mobilize collective action in the areas of education, income, and health.

Rich will be delivering the keynote titled “Turning Outward: Restoring our Can-Do Spirit” at the United Way of Acadiana Leadership Awards (March 7) and the United Way of Lebanon County Collective Impact Summit (March 29). He has spoken at a number of events for United Ways in the past, including donor thank-you events, annual campaign celebrations, state association meetings, regional and statewide conferences, and the 2011 United Way Community Leaders Conferences, where was a keynote speaker.

The Institute has worked with United Ways in a variety of initiatives over its 30 year history. In 2010, United Way Worldwide and the Institute began a formal partnership to train, coach and provide resources and supports to the local United Way network. The purpose of this partnership has been to aide United Ways as they have continued their transformation from a funding “pass-through” to an interconnected global network of organizations that mobilize financial, human and other resources and focus them on tackling specific community and regional challenges.

Since 2010, the Institute has trained thousands of United Way professionals and volunteer partners and our ideas and practices have been used in more than 250 United Ways in the U.S. and Canada and in dozens of other United Ways beyond North America.
