Turning Outward Practice Tracker

The Turning Outward Practice Tracker is designed to help you assess where you currently are in applying the practice. It is not intended to be used once. Return to it often as you progress through your learning journey and your work. Take time to reflect on what you are learning about yourself, what changes over time and what you can do to ensure that you are staying focused on being Turned Outward.

The tool contains 10 statements asks you to rate yourself as honestly as you can using the following rating scale:

  • We’ve Got It – We feel good about saying we’ve got this factor.

  • Real Progress – We’re steadily improving and moving in the right direction. Still room for improvement.

  • Starting to Improve – We’re beginning to demonstrate genuine effort. Things are starting to get better.

  • Lip Service – We talk a good game, but our actions are not in line with what we’re saying.

  • Business as Usual – We haven’t changed at all—it’s “business as usual.”

  • Not Applicable (N/A) – This item is either not relevant to our/my work or not on our/my radar.

When you’ve completed the practice tracker, reflect the following questions:

  • What did you learn about yourself after completing it?

  • Which statements from the tracker did you wrestle with the most? Why?

  • As you go forward, what areas do you want to focus on?
